^About me!^

It's so hard to describe yourself...

As you've probably gathered from the welcome page, my name is Mason! I use he/him pronouns and I'm a 17 year-old artist who resides somewhere in the vast expanse of the United States. I enjoy making art and writing pieces as well as exploring the intersection of the two. I also have a large interest in music, but I don't make any myself.

Most of my visual art is digital and most of my digital art is fanart for a smattering of ever-dynamic fandoms and interests, but this particular platform is going to be centered solely around my original works.

I often make things digitally since I find it the most convenient, but I also very much enjoy working with acoustic mediums! I commonly use linocut block printing and various mixed medias, of which my favorites to work with are gouache and colored pencil. I'm very invested in affordability and reuse and DIY, which does make me a bit of a hoarder, but also means I put more personal value in my works!

The themes of my art tend to center around the political and the philisophical and the societal, particularly when concerned with queer and gendered topics. I also find a lot of joy indulging in alternative subculture, namely punk and goth, through the ethics and the ideologies and music and style etcetera. I can get very personal with my art as well, and I am always striving to both improve and broaden my craft.

Interests

• Music: My most recurring artists/bands (in no particular order) include: Against Me!, Left at London, Talking Heads, The Cure, Sufjan Stevens, My Chemical Romance, They Might Be Giants, Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Dead Kennedys, Joy Division, CAKE, Operation Ivy, The Scary Jokes, Violent Femmes, Streetlight Manifesto, The Cramps, Go! Child, Green Day, System of a Down, Reel Big Fish, The Mountain Goats... the list goes on (and will be updated with time!)
  
  My preferred genres center around punk and post-punk and new wave, but I'm not opposed to any genres!

• Games: I don't play a lot of games, but I love an indie title. My personal favorite games of all time (in no particular order) are Night in the Woods, OFF, and The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe. I also really enjoy Disco Elysium, TF2, Who's Lila?, Bugsnax, Don't Starve Together, Minecraft, Stardew Valley, Undertale/Deltarune, Hades, etc...
• Shows/Movies: I don't watch shows or movies that frequently, but I'm a big sucker for animated movies and the seasons of Doctor Who with 9 and 10. I also watched Scott Pilgrim Takes Off when that came out (I'd seen the movie a few times before) and loved it! It also compelled me to read the comics.
• Other Media: I'm a big YouTube guy. My favorite channels include video essayists like Ro Ramdin, Bobby Broccoli, Jacob Geller, Shaun, Drew Gooden, Hbomberguy, Strange Aeons, and so on. I also have a seemingly inescapable attachment to Hermitcraft, and quite enjoy the channels Drawfee, Hivemind, RTgame, and Therm!
• General Things: Goth/Punk/Alternative subculture, political discussion, bats, dragons, unicorns, cats, werewolves, cowboy and medieval aesthetics, community arts, hand sewing and patching-- to name a few :D
